Our Clinical Psychologist’s Reply

The loss of a romantic relationship can be very emotionally painful, often leading to depression. When depressed, it’s very difficult for us to make decisions as we are actually thinking too much. I would recommend some counseling if available in your area. If your depression increases or you have thoughts of harming yourself, you should get an appointment with a psychiatrist or talk to your family physician.
In our younger years, it’s not uncommon to have several romantic relationships. It’s also very common to begin a relationship and for that romance to end for a variety of reasons. While the end of the relationship is very uncomfortable and emotionally miserable, people survive these difficulties in life and continue their life journey. This is not the end of the world, just the end of a relationship.
